Hello everyone,

I was experiencing a few technical difficulties with my internet and so I apologize for the slight delay in posting these songs.  It was really fun to switch directions around the room last night and do a little face-off dancing.  Expect some more hot dance offs in the near future!  (And just a little reminder: I will be teaching TWO Zumba classes tomorrow!)

  • Zumba Basics 1 Training in CA with Beto!

    Hello lovely Zumba peps!

Beto is coming to California!  That’s right, you heard me, Beto Perez, the founder and creator of Zumba, will be coming to San Ramon in November and actually teaching the Basics 1 Training!  I will so sadly be busy that weekend, otherwise I would have signed up in a heartbeat, but you should!  If you’ve thought about becomming an instructor or maybe working on technique and mastering those tricky steps, then check it out!

Beto’s Basic 1 Training on November 14th in San Ramon.

Oh, I wish I could go!

Halloween Zumba Party in Walnut Creek

One of the greatest perks about being a ZIN Member (Zumba Instructor Network) is getting to go to the annual Zumba Convention in Orlando, Florida and meeting all of the fun and fabulous Zumba Instructors from around the world!  I met a new Zumba friend on the plane ride to the convention from SFO, who also happens to be a 24 Hour Fitness Group X Instructor in the East Bay.

I wanted to let you all know about a Zumba Party that my new Zumba friend, Midori, is organizing.  Midori is hosting a Halloween Zumba Party on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 6-9pm at the ClubSports Renaissance in Walnut Creek.  I’m thinking of heading on over so let me know if you are interested, maybe want to carpool, and have some Zumba Halloween fun!

See you all tomorrow at Potrero!

Extra Zumba Class on Thursday, October 1st!

    Hello lovely Zumba peps!

I hope that you are all off to an amazing start to the week!   It felt a little rough to get out of bed this morning and I’m feeling a little sore from the Zumba training yesterday.  But it is beautiful, sunny day in the Bay Area – nothing to complain about :)

    Here’s a little special annoucement:

I will be subbing a Zumba THIS Thursday evening at the 24 Hour Fitness at Van Ness at 8:30pm!  That means that yes, you get an extra zumba class and yes, you can come to TWO classes in one evening!  (Don’t forget the original class at Market Street at 6:30pm)  Hope to see you all there!

    Zumba love,

    Alena

    Awesome training!

Not only did the Baltimore Ravens dominate the Cleveland Browns today (holla!), but I had a fantastic time at the Zumba Basics 1 Training today with Roger Yamat  in Fremont, CA.  It was a blast!   I met some wonderful and fun people at the training today and even got some good ideas for some new choreography (thanks for all the great moves!)   I just love being able to take master classes and gather new ideas for my own classes.

It is always good to remember the Zumba basics by keeping the steps easy and fun, especially for those first timers to your class.  While the training did make me feel more confident in putting my own style to the steps I know, it was good practice to clean up and perfect some of them, while remembering the to utilize the Zumba formula- movement, arms, direction and fitness.

And oh my goodness, Club Sport in Fremont is one of the most beautiful facilities I have ever seen!  That gym has everything and the locker room was literally the size of about 10 of my apartments put together.  What a nice group x room too!  But don’t worry, I’ll keep representing the 24!

Thank you for a fabulous Sunday to all of the newly certified Zumba Instructors!  Feel free to come to my class, ask me any questions and stay in touch! :)

    Zumba love,

    Alena

    Happy Weekend!

There is nothing like sweating and shakin’ it on a Saturday morning at Market Street to get your day started off right!

Now I am getting ready for a Gala Event, Beyond the Mekong: Celebrating 30 Years of Service Within the Southeast Asian Community, with one of my favorite Zumba peps, Jeannette, who also happens to work in the same field as my day job.  It’s always nice to have a little special event when you work in the nonprofit world!  And I do enjoy getting all dressed up every now and then.

There are also the usual weekend activities of grocery shopping and laundry that I needed to take care of.  I had to wash all of my zumba gear so that it can be so fresh and so clean for my Zumba Basics 1 Training tomorrow in Fremont!  It should be a blast!  Another fabulous Zumba student from my class will be trekking down to Fremont with me tomorrow morning (I think I have to leave my house at 6:15am – oy.)  I always love going to these trainings and I feel like I learn more every time!  And then there is always the nice bonus of meeting and networking with wonderful people.  I’ll just be sure to bring some healthy snacks to keep me going for the day cause it is a long one!  Perhaps a little tuna (bubblebee sensations are amazing!), some nuts and dried fruit, a few nectar bars, and of course, some gatorade, and I will be good to go.

    Have a wonderful Saturday!

Saturday Zumba and New Zumba Items in the Shop!

    Good morning!

Well, it is about time I got myself back into the Saturday morning Zumba routine!  So I’m off to shake it with Carlie, Pablo, Claire and all of the other early morning zumba fabulous peps – 9am 24 Hour Fitness Market Street!

And as I always seem to navigate to the Zumba homepage when I’m online, I just saw that they added a whole bunch of new items to the Zumbawear collection.  Some of these were available during the convention, but the real hot items flew from the shelves and disappeared before your eyes.  So check it out if you are interested in some Zumbawear.  OR let me know if you would like a Zumba shirt or two, I’ll be placing a LARGE order soon, which means discounts for YOU!

    Off to class!
